Thurcroft Parish Council Backs Bowling Club with Grant to Boost Community Engagement
Published: 14 September 2024
Thurcroft Parish Council is proud to announce a grant of £457.75 awarded to the Thurcroft Welfare Community Bowling Club. The funds will help cover the cost of materials needed to maintain the club's grounds throughout the season, ensuring a welcoming and well-kept space for all members and visitors.
With over 1,000 visitors each year, the Bowling Club is a thriving hub of activity in the local community. To celebrate the grant's success, Parish Councillors were invited to the club on Saturday morning to see firsthand how the funds will improve the club’s facilities. Councillors had the chance to meet with members and learn more about the vital role the club plays in fostering community spirit.
Commenting on the award, Brian Clark, Chairman of Thurcroft Parish Council said:
"We are delighted to support the Thurcroft Welfare Community Bowling Club, which is such an important part of our village life. This grant will help the club continue to offer a fantastic space for people of all ages to come together, stay active, and build friendships. Whether it's engaging our elderly residents or working with young people from The Willows School, the club's commitment to promoting community well-being is inspiring, and we're proud to be part of that effort."
The Bowling Club is eager to expand its membership, encouraging more people to take up the sport. Bowling provides a great opportunity for elderly residents to stay active, socialize, and beat social isolation. In addition to this, the club has recently started working with local children from The Willows School, where club members offer bowling demonstrations and engage with younger generations.
Thurcroft Parish Council is delighted to support this initiative, which contributes to the well-being and social cohesion of the village. The Bowling Club remains a valuable asset, providing a space for recreation, connection, and community growth.
